FFS! Shaving in Style With Friction Free Shaving*

Hello, hello, helloooooo, and welcome back to my blog! Today I have a product review, from a company that I have been LOVING!

FFS (Friction Free Shaving) is a monthly subscription service. Starting at £5 a month, the idea behind the company is that, once a month you will receive a box with 4 razor heads inside, one for each week of the month. This way, you never forget to buy new razor heads, and you can change the head each week, making shaving much more hygienic!

Before this post, I wasn’t actually aware of how often you should change your razor head, so this has definitely opened my eyes in terms of hygiene! You should change it after around 5-7 shaves. Continue reading “FFS! Shaving in Style With Friction Free Shaving*”

Big, Bouncy Blow Dry: CurlME Review

Hello, hello, hello!

So, recently I was sent a brush set from Pro Blo. This set is the CurlME set, and it retails for £35. I was sent this set in exchange for a YouTube video, but I’ve decided to write a review on here to accompany the video!

Ok, so if you know me very well, you will know that I often don’t bother to do anything with my hair. I don’t even dry it, I let it naturally dry. The simple reason for this is that I am essentially rubbish at doing anything with my hair. My mother’s a hairdresser so I always let her do my hair growing up, and it wasn’t until I moved to university that I realised just how helpless I am when it comes to styling. Because of this reason, I didn’t have high hopes for this set, or my ability to use it anyway.

But, I am happy to say, I was completely wrong.

The set includes:

  • 1 Brush Handle
  • 6 Brush Barrels (2 large, 2 medium, 2 small)
  • 6 Clips
  • 1 How To/Safety leaflet
  • 1 Travel Bag

Another initial concern that I had after realising what came in the set, was that 6 barrels would not be enough to my whole head, I was wrong about that too. For reference, I have medium length, thin hair. However, if you do need more barrels, you can order various different sets, and you can even order individual barrels if, for example, there is one barrel size in particular that you are keen on.

In terms of value, I think this set is pretty good. I mean, obviously it depends how often you will use it, but in terms of what you get for the price, I think it’s definitely justified.

I’m not going to go into much detail about how to use the set in this post, as this is included in the video tutorial! But, the idea is basically that you blowdry a section your hair with one of the brush barrels attached to the handle, then you wind it into your hair, release the handle and clip it in, like a roller! You then leave this in your hair until it is completely cool, I leave mine for about 15 minutes. You can watch the full video tutorial of how to use the set HERE.

My hair is pretty hard to curl, I’ll be honest about that. Hairdressers have tried, and failed, to give me curly blow drys, even big curls with a large tong/curling wand, but my hair is tight curls or nothing, and I’d just sort of expected that. Never, in a million years, did I expect to love the results that this set gives me so much!

It’s easy to do, takes me around 25-30 minutes, lasts me three days and gives me salon quality curls that make me feel like a princess, what’s not to like?! Plus, the whole colour scheme of the sets is so on trend, I love the black and pink ombre!

This set has quickly become my ONLY hair care routine! I cannot stop using it, and my technique is improving with every use. I am honestly baffled, I’ve even tried it out on my mother’s hair and she loved it too!

If I could put into words how confident this new-do makes me feel, I would. However, my vocabulary simply isn’t good enough for that, so let the pictures in this post speak for themselves!

So there we have it. An affordable product that’s easy to use and gives a salon quality, oh-so-in-trend, curly blow dry. I think this is it, I think my life is complete.

Have you ever heard of Pro Blo? What’s your favourite hair style at the moment? Would you use a set like this? Let me know in the comments!

Uplifting Prints For A Rainy Day*

Hello there!

Sooooo… if you’ve followed my blog for a long time, you may know just how much I love prints. Like, honestly, I just love a good quote, beautifully written on a piece of card, on my wall. In fact, I’ve always loved a good quote on the wall. Before I discovered what prints were, I used to write out my favourite quotes on bits of paper and stick them on my wall with blu tac (I’m cringing now, but I really did!).

So, when I saw VeryVez advertising a collaboration opportunity on Instagram, I just HAD to apply! And, I’m excited to announce, that I will be working with them on Instagram for the next 3 months!

VeryVez is a small business, ran through etsy, with really uplifting and pretty products! I already cannot wait to order some more of these prints to decorate my new room with!

The first print that I chose was a quote from Snow White. I love Disney but, if I’m honest, I don’t think I could quote Snow White off of the top of my head. However, I absolutely LOVE this quote, as it’s just so happy and inspiring!

This unique frame is from Primark, and I think it suits this quote perfectly. Plus, it looks amazing in my freshly painted and decorated bathroom. I just know that reading this quote every morning will make me feel uplifted, as it’s just so inspiring!

The print itself is exactly the quality that you would expect, and there’s lots of different styles of prints on the VeryVez etsy store, something to suit everyone’s taste!

If you would like to order this, or any other, print from the VeryVez store, you can use my discount code ‘HAYLEY10’ to receive a 10% discount!

Happy shopping!

Do you have prints around your home? What’s your opinion on motivational quotes? Let me know in the comments!

Cooking with ‘One Pound Meals’ by Miguel Barclay!

So today I’ve got a little review of a cook book. I know. It is not like me to review a cook book! But, Zack bought us this a few weeks ago and we have used it every day since! Plus, I asked on Instagram if you would like a review and a few of you said yes, so here we are.

Anyway, ‘One Pound Meals’ is a cook book by Miguel Barclay, who is an Instagram chef, so the photos are bloody lovely! The essential idea behind the book is that each portion of the meal costs £1 or less, so me and Zack could effectively make two meals from the book and have only spent £1 each. The way it works is that a lot of the recipes use similar/the same ingredients therefore there’s no need to spend lots of money on lots of different herbs and spices and ingredients. But this is perfect for us! Mainly because I am a vegetarian and I am pretty fussy, but Zack really loves his food, so sometimes we want to eat at the same time but eat different things but we struggle with portions. However, this book gives the amounts of ingredients for ONE meal! So no having to work out the quantities, which means less maths!

So, yeah, this book is perfect for us which we sort of knew when we bought it, and that was also the reason we bought it. But, obviously we didn’t know what to expect from the actual dishes and recipes themselves. We’ve, between us, probably tried about a third of the recipes in the book now, and I can honestly say they are so delicious! Every single one has tasted amazing.

My favourites so far have been the butternut squash risotto, mushroom gnocchi, chow mien (without the chicken) and the hummus and flat bread! They have all been just so yummy, and I can honestly say they’ve made me look forward to cooking each day.

The recipes are unbelievably easy to follow, and I have absolutely zero cooking experience but even I can say that! All of the steps are simple, and I don’t think any of the recipes have taken me longer than an hour to complete, so pretty quick too!

As well as just the recipes themselves, this book has taught me so many basic kitchen/cooking skills that I lacked. And it has also given me a newfound confidence in the kitchen. For example, I made a flat bread yesterday! Yup, I MADE a flat bread and it was easy as hell but if this book hadn’t prompted me too, I would never have tried as I would have just deemed it too difficult for my limited skills.

I’ve been surprised again and again by what I CAN actually do, and I haven’t looked at a pack of super noodles in weeks!

As I’m more comfortable with the recipes now, I’ve been branching out a little from the book. I’ve also become confident in adjusting the recipes slightly to suit what we currently have in the cupboard, or what we like the most!

I’m now making my own flatbreads, hummus, sauces, and for the first time in my life I am enjoying cooking dinner every night. Also, when I mentioned this book on my Instagram story, Miguel replied (which I did NOT expect at all!) and he was so lovely, so it makes me even happier that I’m enjoying his book so much!

Miguel’s original ‘One Pound Meals’ book is on amazon at the moment for half price (£7.49) which you can buy HERE. It is also available to buy on Asos for £5.50, but these keep selling out very quick! I don’t know when you’ll read this, but as I am writing this, it is actually the publishing day of Miguel’s 2nd book, ‘Fast and Fresh One Pound Meals’! I can’t say whether this is as good as the first yet, as I’ve only ordered it this morning from Amazon, but I’m sure it will be! You can check out the second book HERE.

And, that’s about it for this post! Have you ever heard of Miguel? If not, I’d definitely recommend following him on Instagram as he is so up to date with current trends and he turns them into food, it’s amazing! #MuggyMikePasta

Let me know in the comments if this book sounds interesting, and what your cooking skills are like!

That’s all for now!

*All of the links provided are not affiliate links. I have provided both Amazon and Asos so that you can choose which one you wish to order from.
All images sourced from One Pound Meals Instagram Page because my photos will never be as pretty as Miguel's.

A Box For A Bride: Collaboration With The Wedding Box*

Hello, hello, hello!
I am so excited to share with you today’s post, as it’s all about the bridal box I recently received from The Wedding Box. The Wedding Box is an etsy store which sells boxes for lots of different members of the wedding party. From mother of the bride, to the bridesmaids, the mother of the groom, and even the hen do; not forgetting one for the bride herself! The ‘Bride-To-Be’ box is the one I shall be reviewing today, and The Wedding Box Co were lovely enough to send me this box at a discounted price, in exchange for this review!

Onto the box itself.

First thing’s first, there was a little issue with me receiving this box, in that even though it clearly was labelled ‘fragile’, the courier service did not handle with care, therefore much of the outside of the box, and the ‘Mrs Hindson’ message was also damaged. I alerted the company about this issue because, although I know it was no fault of theirs whatsoever, I felt I had to as I was opening the box on my Instagram story and it was very clearly damaged. However, the company were absolutely lovely about this, and even re-sent me the message framed! I was completely honoured by this gesture, as I did not hold this company liable for the damage whatsoever, and this kind gesture really made my day!

Inside the actual box, there is all of the things a bride requires for the stressful lead up to the big day. It contains:

  • A Face Mask
  • A Personalised Candle
  • A Wedding Themed DVD
  • A ‘Save The Date’ Plaque
  • A Pouch Of Confetti
  • A Bracelet
  • A Small Bottle Of Rose, Complete with cute straw!

I’m going to review each of these items individually, and then summarise with an overall review at the end, as I’d really like to give this box the detail it deserves!

I loved the idea of a face mask within the box, and I also love that this one is from superdrug, therefore is cruelty free and suitable for vegans. This means it really caters for everyone, which I appreciate! However, unfortunately, I could not use this specific item as it contains aloe vera. I maybe should’ve alerted the company of this allergy when I ordered, so place no blame on them for this, but this does mean I don’t have a first hand experience with this mask. My fiancé offered to be my guinea pig though, so tested out the mask for me and he really loved it!

The candle smells DIV-I-NEEEE. Like seriously, I wish I could buy these by the bucket load! Plus, it’s super cute and personalised which I also love. I almost didn’t want to burn it…

The wedding themed DVD is a genius addition to the box! From my understanding of how the boxes work, each box contains a different DVD which is wedding themed. The one in mine was ’27 Dresses’ which is one of my favourite rom-coms, and perfect for those de-stress, pamper evenings that we all need every now and then!
The ‘Save The Date’ plaque is my favourite item in the box! It’s just so pretty, and I cannot wait to write our date on this and hang it in the house!

I was really pleased that the pouch of confetti contains dried petals. I much prefer this style to the plastic/paper styles of confetti, and the one included in this box is really pretty!

And, oh my gosh, the bracelet is so adorable! I love the string style of the bracelet with the little heart charm, and I love wearing lots of bracelets in the summer time, so I know this one will be worn a lot! A cute little addition to this is the definition of ‘bride-to-be’ on which the bracelet is mounted, this is a really nice touch that I can really appreciate as a linguist.

And last, but certainly not least, is the little bottle of rose! Again, from what I understand, flavours etc vary box to box, but a small bottle of alcohol is included, complete with a cute pink striped straw! Rose is actually my favourite wine, so I am definitely looking forward to having a nice glass of this, in front of the TV watching ’27 Dresses’, with the candle burning.

Overall, I absolutely love this box! I think it is the perfect gift for a stressed out bride-to-be the week before the wedding, as it certainly encourages relaxation. There’s also some really lovely keep sakes such as the plaque and the bracelet, and I’m so glad I decided to collaborate with The Wedding Box on this post! This box is priced at £30, which I do not think is too bad considering the amount of thought and effort that clearly goes into each and every one. I’m already looking at the mother of the bride box, and the bridesmaids boxes for my big day! In fact, I’m secretly wishing that they bring out a ‘Groom-To-Be’ box as I just know that Z would love it!

Thank you for reading this post! Are you planning a wedding soon? What do you think of these boxes?

The Gift Of Song? #Ad

Hello there! Today I’m going to tell you about/review THE BEST gift idea I have ever heard of, the gift of song!

Recently, I received an email from a company called Songfinch, a company who LITERALLY give the gift of song.

How does it work?

You simply fill out a little form about the person you’re creating the song for. You can input details like their name, relationship to you, and stories and memories that you have together. The more detail, the better as this is the main basis of your song. You then get to choose things like voice of the singer, and the style of song that you wish to create.

Your song is then created by a song writer and the rest of the team, and delivered to your email address in 7 days, super speedy!

Songfinch also provide you with a little card to give your loved one which is sent through the post, but your reveal doesn’t have to be this way…

I created a song* for my fiancé using Songfinch and had a big reveal planned but, to be honest, I was way too excited when it reached my email inbox that I just had to play it to him straight away.

Luckily, he absolutely loved the song. The words were so lovely and touching and he  kept singing it for days afterwards (we both did actually, it’s really catchy!). I just love that this beautiful song is all about us and we get to cherish it forever, because music, to me, is something that lives on in the memory as a catchy tune can never be forgotten.
Do you wanna hear my song? Click HERE.

The song really exceeded my expectations! It flows beautifully and is really catchy, just like any song you’d hear on the radio! But this song isn’t just any song you’d hear on the radio, it’s our song and it means so much to us because it’s our story. I also love the detail that was included from the story I told the writers, such as listening to Ed Sheeran on the radio and the fact that he taught me to love.

This really could be the best gift you’ve ever given, and the best part? You could give it to absolutely anyone for any occasion!

Want to give the gift of song? Visit Songfinch here and use code FANSOFTSG at the checkout to receive a $20 discount!

Thanks for reading, I hope this gives you the perfect gift idea!

Wikaniko’s Moringa Oil- A Miracle Product?

Hello! Today we’re going back to my roots, with a product review! This particular product is from Wikaniko which you can visit HERE.

Okay, so I was kindly sent this product by Wikaniko in exchange for this review, but all opinions are my own and are my honest opinion. For more information, you can see my post entitled ‘disclaimer’.

Before I received this product, I knew absolutely nothing about moringa oil. However, upon doing some research, I’ve found that it’s an ingredient often used in skincare such as face creams due to it’s properties which mean it helps to heal and fade fine lines and scars.

Although a truly magical sounding product, it is often only used in small quantities in these skincare products. However, at Wikaniko’s, you can buy 100% pure moringa oil which has been grown organically!

I decided to trial this product for a week in an attempt to fade my arm stretch marks, which really ruin my confidence and get me down. This was my arm before I began using the product:

In terms of applying the product, the application process is really simple. I simply popped a few squirts of the oil onto my hand and massaged it into the needed area. The smell isn’t the most pleasant, I’ll be honest, but it isn’t too bad and it’s a very earthy and organic scent, so nothing that I wasn’t expecting!

After a week, my arms were definitely a lot more moisturised! I didn’t expect it at all, but my stretch marks had definitely reduced in redness and were becoming a lot less noticeable. Here is the after picture:

All in all, this product definitely worked for me! My stretch marks are pretty deep and, so, I wasn’t expecting too much of a change as I have tried many products over the years and nothing has managed to rid of them yet. However, this product has made them a lot less noticeable and I will definitely be ordering this again!

You can visit Wikaniko’s website HERE.

Thank you for reading!

Testing Pound Land Makeup!

A little bit of a different post today, for me anyway. I recently watched some YouTube videos of people testing out primark/ other cheap makeup brands so I decided to go for the cheapest of the cheap, Poundland! A small disclaimer before we begin, I ain’t a makeup artist and I’m definitely no beauty guru so I am actually pretty impressed with the results I got!

Ok, so I’m going to review each product first and then the images of the finished look will be at the end of the post. Let’s go…

I was pleasantly surprised by some of the products I used on my face. Notably, the concealer was a lot better than I expected. The foundation actually made me look airbrushed and didn’t oxidise or go orange, even on my really pale skin! The contour wasn’t amazing, but it would be good for someone just starting out as it’s so affordable. Plus it comes in a set with the blush which I was cautious not too use too much of, but added a pretty pink touch.

The highlighter, unfortunately, let the side down here. I really wanted to love it but, ultimately, I just couldn’t tell it was there. It added a slight shimmer but nothing worth raving about. The brushes were also a bit rubbish, but for a set of 6 for £1 they were great value for someone just starting out experimenting with makeup!

Eyes and Lips

The stand out product of all of the ones I tried was BY FAR the eyeshadow stick! It provided a gorgeous bronze shimmer that I was just so impressed with. The shadow that I used for my crease also surprised me. It’s amazingly pigmented and a small tap covered my whole crease!

The mascara was ok. Not awful, not amazing. It was just as I expected to be honest, a cheap brush and a cheap, but buildable formula. Again, ideal for someone experimenting with makeup for the first time.

The lipgloss looked ok, but the formula was really sticky. It looked like glue coming out of the pot when I tried to apply it, not amazing and I probably won’t use it again.
The Finished Look

Overall Review

I’ll be honest, I’m pleasantly surprised with the look I managed to create with these products. I love the eye products in particular and will definitely be using them time and time again. The concealer was also pretty stand out, and I’d use the foundation again if I ran out and needed a quick fix! I won’t be using the brushes or highlight again, but hey, they were only £1 so I’m not too fussed!
Thank you for reading this post, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Favourites ✨

It’s that time of the season where I share everything I’ve been loving so far! And this post does not disappoint, I’ve been loving so many different things this season!

Let’s get straight to it because there’s quite a bit to get through…

Lancôme Juicy Shakers

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. A Lip oil with a slight pigment, these are so nourishing and look great too! My lips have seriously been thanking me for using these and I don’t think I’ll be forgetting about these any time soon.

Fab Little Bag*

As well as being super cute, these are super functional. These are little biogradable bags which make tampon disposal a little easier. I love using these when I visit my friends houses as I can dispose of my tampon without being embarrassed and without flushing it down the loo! Fab invention.

NYX Doll Eye Mascara

This mascara is just gorgeous and it’s quickly becoming my favourite. It’s so affordable and so much better than ones that I’ve tried of a higher price bracket. I’m in love with it!

Lancôme La Vie Est Belle body lotion

This smells AMAZING! Plus it has a little shimmer so, as well as the normal nourishing that body lotions do, this makes me shimmery and smell amazing too! 10/10 from me!

Elegant Touch Nails*

So I recently became an elegant touch insider which is just so amazing and I am really enjoying being on the programme! They’ve sent me 4 different sets of nails this month and above are my favourite 2! I love these nails because they’re a fraction of the price of acrylics, you can change them up more often and they don’t ruin your nails nowhere near as much as actual acrylics!
Micheal Kors Watch

I got this watch from my boyfriend for Christmas and, let’s be honest I’m not a massive watch fan, but I love this. With a rose gold and crystal theme this watch simply couldn’t be more perfect, and I’m so happy I received it!

Marc Jacobs- Honey

I recently rediscovered my love for this perfume after receiving it for Christmas! Marc Jacobs’ perfumes always come in the cutest packaging, but the smell of this one just screams spring to me!

Benefit They’re Real! Double the Lip

A fairly new product from benefit, but one I have been really enjoying lately! This is basically a lipstick and lip liner in one and it’s perfect for when you want a quick lip look, or if you’re rubbish at applying lip liner like me!

Models Own Polishes- Chrome and Glitter!

I’ve been loving these polishes for so long now, every time I go to paint my nails i’m enticed by the chromes! And they look oh so gorgeous with the glitter layered over!

NYX Lingerie (shade embellishment)

This lip product was all over my Insta feed not too long ago and I was dying to try it but every time I went to buy it it had sold out. I eventually got my hands on it and I can definitely say it was worth the wait! Plus this shade is super gorgeous 😍.

Light-up mirror/jewellery box from Debenhams

I received this for Christmas and I just absolutely adore it! It’s just so pretty and handy and there’s lots of room to store my makeup too. So in love with this product!
And that’s all for now! I mean, I realise I’m saying that’s all but this is like my longest favourites post ever, oops. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading!

Slay My Valentines Day!

Today’s post is in collaboration with a company I recently came accross through instagram, Slay My Print. This is a small company who run an etsy shop selling their prints. They very kindly sent me some Valentines themed prints, although these would make the perfect gift for a partner all year round!

Disclaimer: These products were gifted to me in exchange for this review. As always, all opinions are my own and I aim to be honest and fair. For more information see my full disclaimer here.

The first print they sent me was this ‘you me oui’ print. I really love the minimalist, simplistic design of this print. I also think the font is really appealing. But, the slogan sold this one for me. I just love how simplistic yet catchy ‘you me oui’ is and I just think it’s so clever! Great job guys.

The second print that they sent me was this ‘yasss!’ personalised print. this contains mine and my partners name and the date we got engaged. I love the idea of this print being engagement based, because you say yes, but it could be for pretty much anything you like as you can have the date and names personalised, or you can leave them off completely and just have the ‘yasss!’ slogan.

One thing that I really love about this company is how personalisable their prints are. I just think they make the most adorable present and, at £5 each, they’re such an inexpensive but thoughtful Valentines gift.

Another thing that really surprised me about this company was the quality. I have had quite a few prints from etsy before, but these prints in particular are a lot thicker than the other ones I have purchased and they just seem of a higher quality. Plus, they can wrapped in tissue paper with a little Slay My Print sticker on which just made them feel oh so luxury!

As well as doing wedding/engagement themed prints, they also have prints for children (which are so adorable they almost make me wish I had a child) as well as more generic prints. I will definitely be ordering from this company again, in fact I already have my eye on the customisable roman numeral marble print on their site!

You can shop their etsy site here, visit their twitter here, and visit their instagram here.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post. This company is one I am so happy to have worked with because it’s a small business ran with real heart, and I’d love it so much if you could head to their social media pages and show them some love!

Lots of love and Valentines wishes,

H x
