Baby Names That I Love But Won’t Be Using

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

Now, this is a trend that has been sweeping Youtube lately, and a trend that I absolutely love! All of the videos have given me so many ideas for possible baby names, so I thought why not make a blog post out of it?! Just in case you don’t know me, I am not pregnant nor am I planning on having kids any time soon. But, as someone who doesn’t really like their name, I am determined to give my children good names so here goes…

  1. Zack

I absolutely love the name Zack and have done for a really long time. But, that’s my fiancé’s name, and having two Zack’s around who be supeeeer confusing. We will probably use it as a middle name though.

2. Willow

I have always loved this name, but I don’t think I will ever use it. I don’t know why, something about it just doesn’t feel right.

3. Carter

Ahhhh my little brother’s name! I love this name, and I had a pretty big influence on them deciding to go with this name for him. But, obviously, I don’t want my child to have the same name as my brother.

4. Harper

I don’t know why I like this name, I just do. But, I do know that Zack isn’t too keen…

5. Hoshi

Yep, you read that right, Hoshi. Meaning star in Japanese, this was one of those names I learnt quite young and stuck to. However, my grandad says it sounds too much like horse shite so what can ya do?

6. Indiana

I have always loved this name because I love how many different options there are with it for shortening. This was my top name for my future child for a really long time, but I think I’ve gotten a bit sick of it now. Plus, I’ve tried to write like 3 novels when I’ve been bored (and soon after given up) and I called the protagonist Indiana every time. I don’t think that association will ever leave me.

7. Teddy

I find this name soooooooooooo cute. Like it’s literally adorable. Aw. But, I feel like it’s a name that’s cute for a baby/child and an old person, but not really a teen/adult. I don’t know, it just doesn’t feel universal enough to me.

8. George

Me and Zack have always liked this name. It’s traditional, cute, and it’s his middle name. But lately I’ve just gone off of it a little, and I don’t think I would ever use it. (If I have a future baby George now this is a spoiler).

9. Amelia

I think this name is absolutely gorgeous, and I always have. However, I think it’s becoming a little too popular now for my liking. I never had a class with someone with the same name as me and wouldn’t have liked it if I did because, confusing.

10. Noah

Ahhh I love this name! But Zack does not, so it’s not going to get used.

11. Ava/Avariella

So pretty right?! But Zack’s little cousin is called Ava, so, again, a bit weird.

12. Aria

I’ve loved this name ever since PLL, but I’m not sure if I could forget the PLL association unfortunately!

13. Riley

I think this is such a cool name, and it’s unisex. But Zack doesn’t like this one…

14. Caleb

Another PLL name! They did a fab job of naming their cast! (Apart from Alison, boring.) I really like this name. And now I’ve written this, I cannot think of why I wouldn’t use it. So maybe I will!

15. Aurora

I love this, but it’s a little too Disney princess for me. Sorry!

And there we have it! What do you think of these names? What names do you love but will not use? Let me know in the comments!

Love,

  1. This was fun to read! I love the name Amelia but it does remind me of something from an Enid Blyton book! I love Aria too but as you said it would make me think of PLL!! I like Willow too. It’s fun to think up lists of baby names, isn’t it? I can understand not wanting to have the same nane as someone in your class. There was another Kate in ny class and it was so confusing when the teacher would call out our name and we would both answer!!

  2. LOL! your Grandad! What a joker! Aurora is lovely, too! You’ve picked so many nice names that I can add to my “maybe if I have kids” list of names. I have eight nieces and nephews (at the last count..!), so names are running out fast! I’ve recently realised I loved the name Astrid too, but it’s possibly a bit of a “Willow” for me, I’m not sure if I would use it. Also, we have all taken in our family to not telling each other the names we’re planning on giving our kids as everyone always takes the mick! Ha! Fun post! 🙂

  3. These are all such nice names! I see some of these posts and I find most of the names really weird (I’m definitely not one for really modern names that I’ve never heard of!) but all of these are lovely. The Hoshi thing made me laugh though 😀

  4. Hoshi = horse shite really did make me laugh hahah! I really love the name Willow as well, I think it’s really ethereal and charming! Noah is so lovely, I wonder what it is about it that Zack doesn’t like! Fun fact: my little brother was originally going to be called Zack but my Mum ended up going with Fynn! I was originally going to be called Beth but my Dad said he wanted something that could be shouted with gusto so they went with Abbey instead hahah!
